SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Hanna Telzynska secured a win in singles action while
Veronika Lebisova and
Zuzanna Szczepanska teamed up for a triumph in doubles play on day two of the San Diego State Invitational Saturday.
"Although we didn't get all the results we wanted, we fought much harder today," head coach
Ivan Fernandez said. "We got a doubles win from Vero (Lebisova) and Zu (Szczepanska), as well as a good singles win from Hanna (Telzynska). We will continue to improve and hope we can make some adjustments to finish strong tomorrow."
Lebisova and Szczepanska knocked off Vitoria Solis Urdiales and Angela Ho (CSUN), 6-3. Telzynska also emerged victorious, derailing Cindy Ung in exhilarating fashion (CSUN), 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
Lebisova was bounced by Natasha Puehse (Grand Canyon), 6-1, 6-4.
Paloma Hennicaux came up short against Angela Ho (CSUN), 6-4, 6-1.
Elena Dibattista went down fighting to Sofia Pizzoni (Minnesota), 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Szczepanska was upended by Victoria Santibanez Luna (CSUN), 6-2, 6-0.
Carlotta Mencaglia was knocked off by Sasha Turchak (CSUN), 6-2, 6-2. while
Emma Stuart was tripped up by Sofia Dermeniyan (CSUN), 6-3, 4-6, 0-6.
DeCora Antoine was bounced by Tallia Harper (CSUN), 6-2, 6-1.
Mencaglia and Telzynska were clipped by Sofia Pinto and Mia Liepert (Minnesota), 6-3. Dibattista and Stuart fell to Harper and Mortalla Sanz (CSUN), 6-1. Hennicaux and Antoine were bested by Anali Kocevar and Emma Belluomini (Minnesota), 6-1.
The Orange and Blue will wrap up the event on Sunday.
