EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP tennis team will wrap up what has been a quality fall campaign when it competes at the CSUN Invitational from Friday through Sunday.
 
The Miners are coming off a strong showing at the UTEP Invitational (Nov. 1-3) where they rolled to a mark of 14-9 (10-6 singles, 4-3 doubles). The effort pushed the Orange and Blue past 50 combined victories in just four fall events. UTEP stands 56-39 in the fall (38-27 singles, 18-12 doubles). That works out to a combined winning percentage of nearly 60 percent (59.0).
 
"It's hard to believe that this is our fifth and final tournament of the fall," UTEP head coach Ivan Fernandez said. "We have been working hard to improve week to week, and this is a great way to finish. CSUN always puts on a great tournament, and this year will have a great group of teams. We look forward to some great competition this weekend."
 
Paloma Hennicaux has been brilliant individually, sporting a team-best mark of 10-2 in singles. Hanna Telzynska (8-3), Candice Bernier (5-3), Wendy Zhang (5-5) and Valeria Carreño Torres (1-0) all stand .500 or better. Both Telzynska and Zhang have ripped off four consecutive triumphs, including finishing undefeated in singles at the UTEP Invitational.
 
Carlotta Mencaglia and Telzynska have been the top duo in doubles (8-3), followed by Bernier and Zuzanna Szczepanska (6-4) and Carreño Torres and Hennicaux (3-1).
 
This weekend's matches will be a hidden dual format with UTEP getting the opportunity to compete against the likes of Idaho, Loyola Marymount, Minnesota, Pacific, Youngstown State and possibly other foes. Action will commence at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT daily.
