EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP tennis team will play host to perennial power UT Arlington at
9 a.m. MT Wednesday. The match will be held at the El Paso Tennis Club, and admission is free of charge.
It is the fourth straight home contest to start the dual season for the Miners (1-2), who will have a tremendous opportunity to take on a program with plenty of success recently. The Mavericks (2-0) have a combined record of 69-14 since the start of the 2020 dual season. Furthermore, UTA hasn't suffered through a losing campaign since 2013.
"It is not too often we get a team like UT Arlington come play us at home," UTEP head coach
Ivan Fernandez said. "We have been working hard and are ready for a very competitive match."
The tilt will wrap up the homestand for the Orange and Blue, but also kick off a busy week of action. UTEP will play at Northern Arizona on Friday before facing Wyoming in a neutral-site match (Flagstaff, Ariz.) on Saturday. It is also the last home match for UTEP until March 1.
Elena Dibattista,
Paloma Hennicaux and
Hanna Telzynska tie for the team lead in dual triumphs in singles play, with each sporting a 2-1 record.
Carlotta Mencaglia and Telzynska have won all three of their matches in doubles action while
DeCora Antoine and Hennicaux are also undefeated (1-0) in dual doubles.
