Mondragon Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Digital Strategy

EL PASO, Texas – Jamie Mondragon, who was named Director of Marketing for UTEP Athletics in December of 2021, has been elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Digital Strategy as announced on Thursday.

Mondragon will continue to be responsible for the oversight and implementation of marketing strategies for UTEP's 17 Division I sports. She will also be overseeing all the creative content and setting the tone for UTEP Athletics on social media.

It is a well-deserved promotion for Mondragon, who has been instrumental in the increase of attendance, fan engagement, revenue and creative services since arriving in the Sun City. She has revamped the intern and student work experience to help develop future sport administration leaders.

Armed with an extensive background, Mondragon will now have more responsibility and influence on UTEP Athletics and "The 915."

She previously served as the Director of Marketing at Lamar from 2020-21. She was responsible for the marketing for all 17 Cardinal athletic programs and also planned and executed Cardinal Lane, Lamar's tailgate area for football. She also partnered with campus on student engagement strategies. Mondragon assisted with new premium areas on football game day (Beer Garden, Cardinal Cabanas). She also managed all of Lamar Athletics' social media accounts.

Hailing from Albuquerque, N.M., Mondragon was the Assistant Director of Marketing for New Mexico from 2018-20. She coordinated marketing for the football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, soccer, softball and volleyball teams. She revitalized the Howl Zone tailgating area at home football games. Mondragon also oversaw the Lobos' student engagement outreach.

Mondragon was a marketing assistant for UNM from 2016-18 and worked as a donor assistant for the Lobo Club from 2013-16. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from UNM in 2018 and completed her MBA in Marketing at Lamar in Spring of 2022.
