Box Score LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The UTEP softball team had a challenging start to their series against NM State, suffering a 9-1 defeat in the series opener on Friday night at the NM State Softball Complex.
UTEP drops to 16-8 overall (2-2 CUSA) while NMSU improves to 15-11 (5-2 CUSA).
The Aggies surged ahead early with two runs in the first inning and added three more in the second frame. UTEP managed to score in the third inning thanks to a wild pitch, allowing Lexi Morales to cross the plate. However, NMSU extended their lead with four additional runs by the end of the fourth inning, ultimately securing a run-rule win by holding off the Miners in the fifth inning.
