EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP tennis team (3-11, 0-2 CUSA) is back on the court with a pair of home matches this weekend. The Miners will square off against NJCAA powerhouse Seward County CC (11-1) at 10 a.m. MT Friday before challenging Conference USA foe Middle Tennessee (8-6, 0-1 CUSA) at 10 a.m. MT Saturday. Both contests will be held at the El Paso Tennis Club, and admission is free.

It begins a season-ending stretch with five of the final six matches coming in the Sun City. UTEP will also lock up with Weatherford College (April 10), Liberty (April 12), NM State (April 14) in El Paso while competing at former league member UTSA on April 6.

"We are ready to get back out on the court this week against Seward and Middle Tennessee," UTEP head coach Ivan Fernandez said. "While we have been having a lot of ups and downs lately, we are ready for the challenges in these two matches. We are going to come out fighting so we can build momentum for this last part of the season.

Carlotta Mencaglia and Hanna Telzynska pace the way with a team-high tying four wins in singles during dual play. Elena Dibattista, Paloma Hennicaux and Veronica Lebisova follow with three triumphs each. Mencaglia and Telzynska have teamed up to post a 9-4 mark in doubles action in the Spring season. Lebisova and Zuzanna Szczepanska (four victories) and DeCora Antoine and Dibattista (three triumphs) follow.

The Miners will be taking aim at their third team win in the past six matches. They will also be vying for their first league victory on the campaign, in addition to getting back to .500 at home if they can secure both match-ups.

Seward County CC has finished in sixth place or better at the NJCAA Tournament in three straight years. It is riding a 10-match winning streak into Friday's contest. Middle Tennessee will play at NM State on Friday before squaring off against the Miners on Saturday.
