UTEP T&F Finishes Regular Season at Arizona Desert Heat Classic

TUCSON, Ariz. – UTEP track and field concluded regular-season action at the Arizona Desert Heat Classic at Roy P. Drachman Stadium late Saturday evening. 
 
FINAL RESULTS

Princess Uche clocked in a personal-best 54.46 in the women's 400-meter dash. She ranked tied sixth coming into the meet with her previous best of 54.79. 
 
Natalie J. Murillo posted personal bests in a pair of events. Murillo posted 48.38 meters (158-8) in the women's discus. Her previous best was 45.82 meters (150-4). Murillo also set a personal best in the women's hammer with a 50.92-meter (167-0) toss. 
 
Aron Tanui clocked in a season-best 1:48.93 in the men's 800-meter event. He came into the weekend ranked no. 1 in CUSA with his previous best time of 1:48.95. 
 
Maurice Westmoreland recorded a season-best 50.62-meter (166-1) toss in the men's discus. It surpassed his previous mark of 47.46m (155-8) which ranked 11th heading into the weekend. 
 
Ruth Jerubet clocked in a season-best 11:19.19 in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase and crossed the finish line first. Jerubet ranks third in CUSA (11:19.39).
 
Marisa Simpson clocked in a 13.08 in the women's 100-meter hurdles and placed second. 
 
Sandra Maiyo ran her first career 3000-meter race, posting a 9:45.44. 
 
The men's 4x100-meter relay team turned in a 39.76, edging out Oregon 39.751 to 39.754
 
Jakub Belik finished in second place in the men's high jump (2.13m [6-11.75]). 
 
Stephen Carreto clocked in a season-best 53.85 in the men's 400-meter hurdles. He beat out his previous time of 54.02 (sixth in CUSA). 
 
Niesha Burgher finished in fourth behind a trio of Tennessee runners with a time of 23.49 in the women's 200-meter dash.
 
Arianne Morais finished in first place overall in the women's javelin, recording a mark of 53.36 meters (175-0) in her first attempt.  

UP NEXT
UTEP will host the 2024 CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Kidd Field in El Paso, Texas on May 10-12.
