UTEP Tennis Secures Eastern Michigan Transfer Wendy Zhang

EL PASO, Texas – Two-year letter winner Wendy Zhang (Eastern Michigan) will join the UTEP tennis team starting with the 2024-25 season, head coach Ivan Fernandez revealed Thursday.

Two-year letter winner for Eastern Michigan who has experience playing in both the singles and doubles line-up … helped EMU pile up a combined 18 victories during her two seasons with the program … posted a combined record of 11-7 in singles action and 12-7 for doubles play during that timeframe … forged a mark of 8-5, including 6-4 against Mid-American Conference opponents, in singles during the 2023 spring campaign … finished at 7-5 at No. 3 singles and 1-0 at the fourth slot … teamed up with Daniella Shved to produce a record of 8-5 in doubles (4-4 in MAC), including a stellar 6-1 readout at No. 2 doubles … was also 1-0 at No. 3 doubles that year … during her sophomore season (2023-24), she finished at 3-2 in singles and 4-2 in doubles … all of those matches were contested during the fall … prior to her time with the Eagles, she attended Crnjanski Gimnzija School in Belgrade, Serbia.
