UTEP MGolf’s Dylan Teeter ties for Championship, Miners place Eighth at Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate

RESULTS

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – UTEP men's golf wrapped up its first tournament of the season as Dylan Teeter shot 9-under and tied for the individual championships at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate hosted by Coastal Carolina at Grand Dunes Golf Club (par 72 | 7,578) on Tuesday.
 
On his way to his first collegiate championship, Teeter shot a career-best 9-under par 207 (68-69-70) and maintained the top spot during the three-day, 54-hole event. Teeter opened the tournament with a 68. Santa Clara's JP Odland (67-71-69—207) moved up two spots to first after firing a 69 in the third round. Elon's Jack Wieler (66-71-70—207) shot a 66 to take the top spot on the leaderboard during Sunday's round 1 action. On Monday, Teeter fired a 69 and Wieler a 71 to find themselves tied for first with a 137 after day two. 
 
Teeter shot 4-under on par 3 holes (2.67 avg.), tied best in the field. He added a team-high 38 pars and 11 birdies. Teeter also penciled in an eagle on hole 13 (par 5, 560 yards) during round two.
 
The Miners as a team shot 1-over par 865 (285-294-286) and finished eighth. Santa Clara won the team trophy at 21-under par 843 (279-284-280, -21), while Campbell (280-285-281—846, -18 ) and East Carolina (287-278-285—850, -14) rounded out the top three teams. Host Coastal Carolina (280-287-285—852, -12) finished fourth. ODU (301-299-311) finished in last at 47-over par 911. 
 
UTEP shot 19-under on par 5 holes which was tied for second best in the field. 
 
Braden Smith (70-74-71—215) finished tied for 24th, Patrick Foley (72-75-72—219) was tied for 37th, Alexandre Godin (75-76-73—224), in his first collegiate action, tied for 63rd and Eddie Sandoval (75-80-77—232) finished tied for 81st
 
Foley shot 2-under on par 3 holes, while Smith was at 8-under on par 5s. Smith led the Miners with 15 birdies.
 
ON THE APPROACH
UTEP will return to action at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Sept. 20-21. The Miners will compete in a 54-hole, two-day event on Friday and Saturday at UNM Championships Course.
