EL PASO, Texas – The fall schedule for the UTEP tennis team was revealed by head coach Ivan Fernandez on Friday. The Miners will participate in five events, including playing host to the UTEP Invitational for a third consecutive campaign.
 
"We are really excited to get back out on the court," Fernandez said.  "We have an extremely competitive fall schedule with several individual tournaments, and we finish with two hidden duals. We are ready to see the team back in action."
 
Action gets underway at the NM State Invite (Sept. 20-22), with the Miners venturing up the road to Las Cruces to christen the campaign. The following weekend the Orange and Blue head to the ACU Invitational (Sept. 27-29). UTEP will be able to test its skills against the top players in the area by taking part in the ITA Mountain Region (Oct. 17-22).
 
The Miners will showcase their abilities at the UTEP Invitational (Nov. 1-3) at the El Paso Tennis Club. Fernandez's charges will wrap up the fall portion of the slate with the CSUN Invitational (Nov. 8-10). Both of those events will use a hidden dual format.
 
UTEP returns six players from last year's team that produced seven victories, including a 4-0 triumph against Sam Houston on April 18 to secure its first win at the Conference USA Championships since 2009. The Miners also outclassed I-10 rival NM State, 4-3, on "Senior Day" on April 14.
 
Setting the tone for the returnees are seniors Carlotta Mencaglia and Zuzanna Szczepanska. Paloma Hennicaux (junior) and sophomores DeCora Antone, Hanna Telzynska and Valeria Carreño Torres round out the veterans. Mencaglia and Telzynska landed on the 2024 All-CUSA Doubles Team. Transfers Wendy Zhang (Eastern Michigan) and Candice Bernier (NC Central) venture to the "Sun City" to help comprise the remainder of the roster.
