UTEP Men’s Golf set to Compete at William H. Tucker in Albuquerque Sept. 20-21

EL PASO – UTEP men's golf will compete in its second tournament during the fall slate when the Miners tee off at the William H. Tucker Invitational hosted by New Mexico at UNM Championship Course (par 72 | 7,546) in the ABQ on Sept. 20-21.   
 
The Miners will compete against host New Mexico, Arkansas State, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, GCU, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, NM State, Oral Roberts, San Diego State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Stetson, UNLV and USC.

Taking the links for the Miners are Max Schliesing, Dylan Teeter (named Conference USA Golfer of the Week on Sept.11), Patrick Foley, Braden Smith and Alexandre Godin. Schliesing is playing in his first tournament this season, while Teeter, Foley, Smith and Godin are competing in their second event.
 
Friday's round one and two action begins with a 7:30 a.m. MT shotgun start. Saturday's final round will begin at 7:45 a.m.

The Miners as a team shot 1-over par 865 (285-294-286) and finished eighth. Santa Clara won the team trophy at 21-under par 843 (279-284-280, -21) at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate hosted by Coastal Carolina at Grand Dunes Golf Club (par 72 | 7,578) on Sept. 8-10.
 
Dylan Teeter shot 9-under and tied for the individual championship with two other players. 
 
On his way to his first championship as a Miner, Teeter shot a career-best 9-under par 207 (68-69-70) and maintained the top spot during the three-day, 54-hole event. Teeter opened the tournament with a 68. Santa Clara's JP Odland (67-71-69—207) moved up two spots to first after firing a 69 in the third round. Elon's Jack Wieler (66-71-70—207) shot a 66 to take the top spot on the leaderboard during Sunday's round 1 action. On Monday, Teeter fired a 69 and Wieler a 71 to find themselves tied for first with a 137 after day two. 
 
Teeter shot 4-under on par 3 holes (2.67 avg.), tied best in the field. He added a team-high 38 pars and 11 birdies. Teeter also penciled in an eagle on hole 13 (par 5, 560 yards) during round two.
 
Following his performance, Teeter was named the CUSA Men's Golfer of the Week on Sept. 11. He's the first Miner to win a tournament since Oskar Ambrosius won the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., on Sept. 16-17, 2019. Greg Yellin was the last Miner to win CUSA Golfer of the Week coming on Feb. 22, 2022.
