UTEP Men’s Golf set to Compete at Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational Sept. 30-Oct. 1

EL PASO – UTEP men's golf will compete in its third tournament during the fall slate when the Miners tee off at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational at Colorado National GC (par 72 | 7,567 yards) in Erie, Colo., on Monday and Tuesday.

Monday's round one and two action (36 holes of continuous play) begins with an 8:15 a.m. MDT shotgun format start. Tuesday's final round (18 holes) will begin with a staggered shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Live results will be on GolfStat.

Taking the links for the Miners are Alexandre Godin (74.3 stroke average), Max Schliesing (74.3), Dylan Teeter (71.7), Patrick Foley (75.0) and Braden Smith (73.7).

The Miners will compete against host Colorado, Air Force, Boise State, Central Arkansas, Colorado State, Creighton, CSU Fullerton, Denver, NM State, Northern Colorado, St. Mary's, Southern Utah, Tarleton State, Utah, Utah State, Valparaiso and Wyoming.

UTEP men's golf finished 14^th place at the William H. Tucker Invitational at UNM Championship Course (par 72 | 7,546) on Sept. 21.

The Miners (291-297-305) shot 29-over par 893. Colorado (282-284-286) won the team title at 12-under par 852 and host New Mexico (276-279-298) dropped a spot to second place, first 11-under par 853 and one stroke behind the Buffaloes. Long Beach State (285-285-291) finished in third place at 3-under par 861.

Freshman Alexandre Godin was the top Miner and shot up eight spots to finish tied for 39^th. Godin (73-74-75) shot 6-over par 222. Godin tallied six birdies, 33 pars and eagled hole 1 (par 5, 544 yards) during round one to open play.

Dylan Teeter (75-74-74) climbed up 17 spots to tie for 44^th with a 7-over par 223. Teeter led UTEP with 38 pars.
