Round 1 & 2 Results
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The UTEP women's golf team turned in its lowest round of the fall season on Monday, firing a 281(-7) in round two to climb the leaderboard and sit tied for fourth through two rounds of play at The Clash at Boulder Creek. The Miners hold a 36-hole total of 575 (294-281, -1) heading into Tuesday's final day at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Leading the Orange and Blue, Luciana Origel turned in back-to-back 71s (-2) to sit tied for 11th. Origel has recorded eight birdies through the first two rounds.
Nichapas Thawinwan matched a career-best round with a 69 (-3) in round two after opening with a 74, bringing her total to 143 (-1) and placing her tied for 19th. Her nine birdies lead the team.
Freshmen Blanca Yrizar and Amelia Fridlund are tied for 33rd, each contributing key rounds during UTEP's strong second round. Yrizar posted rounds of 73-72 (+1) to continue her consistent play, while Fridlund followed a 76 in round one with a career-low 69 in round two to help the Miners climb the leaderboard.
Atikan Cherdchoo recorded 77s in both rounds to round out UTEP's team scoring.
Competing as an individual, Taline Kyoumjian carded scores of 83-82 during Monday's action.
UTEP will close out its fall season Tuesday in Boulder City, Nevada.
