UTEP Women’s Golf Concludes Fall Slate with Ninth-Place Finish at The Clash at Boulder Creek

FINAL RESULTS

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The UTEP women's golf team closed out its fall campaign with a strong performance at The Clash at Boulder Creek, finishing ninth out of 19 teams with a season-best 54-hole total of 876 (294-281-301) at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Miners' second-round score of 281 marked their lowest single-round total of the fall campaign.
 
Freshman Blanca Yrizar paced the Orange and Blue with a career-best 216 (73-72-71, E) to finish tied for 15th. Yrizar's performance included 11 birdies and one eagle, marking both her best 54-hole total and highest finish of her young career.

Luciana Origel continued her consistent play, tying for 30th with a 219 (71-71-77, +3). Origel tallied eight birdies and carded back-to-back rounds of 71, her best rounds of the season.

Nichapas Thawinwan followed with a 221 (74-69-78, +5) to tie for 44th, recording 11 birdies throughout the tournament. Her second-round 69 was her lowest of the season, and her 221 marked a season best 54-hole total.  

Amelia Fridlund finished tied for 53rd with a 223 (76-69-78, +7), also posting her lowest round of the season with a 69 in round two.
 
Rounding out the lineup, Atikan Cherdchoo finished tied for 79th at 229 (77-77-75, +13), totaling nine birdies across three rounds.

Taline Kyoumjian competed as an individual and finished with a 245.
 
Northern Arizona captured the team title at 24-under (283-277-280—840), followed by NM State (-20, 844) and CSU Northridge (+1, 865).
 
"We showed a lot of promise on what this team is capable of moving into the spring." Said UTEP head coach Steve Sims. "We'll use the offseason to polish up the areas we need to improve. I'm excited for the spring and I think we're going to see a lot of continued success."
 
Individually, NM State's Emma Bunch and Fresno States's Amelia Garibaldi shared medalist honors at 11-under 205, while Northern Arizona's Lizzie Neale placed third at 9-under 207.

The Miners will return to action in the spring at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate, hosted by Bowling Green, February 10-11 at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
