UTEP Men’s Golf in Fifth Following First Round Action at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate Sunday Afternoon

FIRST ROUND RESULTS

PLAYA del CARMEN, Mexico – UTEP men's golf finished fifth after round one at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate hosted by UTRGV at the Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club (par 72 | 6,701 yards) on Sunday.

UTEP shot 10-over par 298 and sits in fifth heading into Monday's second-round action. No. 16 SMU shot 5-over par 293 for a first-place lead. UTSA (296) is second and Abilene Christian (297) is third. Host UTRGV (309) sits tied for 11^th and Cal Baptist (317) is last.

Dylan Teeter finished as the top Miner and is tied for 11^th after the first 18 holes, shooting 1-over par 73. Teeter eagled hole 5 (par 5, 489 yards) while penciling in a pair of birdies.

Patrick Foley shot 2-over par 74 and is tied for 17^th. Foley recorded a trio of birdies.

Alexander Godin turned in a 3-over par 75 and is tied for 23^rd. Godin registered one birdy on the day.

Max Schliesing (76) is tied for 32^nd. Schliesing recorded two birdies but struggled with a pair of double bogeys.

Recent Kentucky transfer Kevin Watts (79), competing as an individual, sits tied for 53^rd. Watts, too, recorded a pair of birdies while two double bogeys also set him back.

Braden Smith (80) is tied for 59^th.

No. 94-ranked ULM's Louis Anceaux (68) leads the individual leaderboard after shooting 4-under par. Anceaux recorded five birdies and only one bogey. He parred the rest of the holes.

Wichita State's Jose Ramirez and SMU's Aaron Jarvis (individual) are tied for second after firing 3-under par 69.

No. 48 SMU's Zachary Kingland is fourth after shooting 2-under par 70.

North Texas's Alex Huang, Northern Colorado's Antti Vahvaselka and no. 57 SMU's William Sides are tied for fifth after shooting 1-under par 70.

Monday's (18 holes) second round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET/6:30 MT.
