TUCSON, Ariz. – UTEP Beach Volleyball (9-7) split its duals on the opening day of the Arizona Invitational at Bear Down Beach, securing a 3-2 victory over Colorado Mesa before falling 3-2 to Central Arkansas.
Dual 1: UTEP 3, CMU 2
In the morning match against Colorado Mesa (11-6), the Miners secured the win with strong performances from the top three courts. Mila Popovic and Marian Ovalle delivered a clutch three-set comeback to clinch the win for UTEP.

Dual 2: UCA 3, UTEP 2
In the afternoon match, UTEP battled against Central Arkansas (9-9) but came up just short in another 3-2 decision. Hill and Uskokovic continued their strong play, winning their match in straight sets, while Lauren Perry and Emma Schubert added a victory. However, Central Arkansas claimed wins in three flights, including a tight three-set battle in the deciding match on court 1.

"It was a tale of two games. We fought well, and I was glad we were able to pull out the match against CMU. We didn't play our best against UCA and had some lapses in our game. I need to do a better job of preparing our players for the second match. We will continue to get better and figure things out."
