CLEARWATER, Florida – UTEP beach volleyball wrapped up play at the Stampede Beach Opener on Saturday morning with a split at Clearwater Beach, falling 5-0 to RV UAB before bouncing back with a 4-1 victory over Stephen F. Austin.
The Miners move to 7-13 overall and 3-4 in Conference USA play.
UTEP saw strong performances across its lineup during the weekend. Paulina Acuna and Madison Hill evened their record at 10-10 on the season, while Krista Paegle and Averie Threet continued their impressive run together at 8-4. The new pairing of Iana Loera and Emma Schubert went 1-1 on the day, and Evelina Krieva and Mia Theisler improved to 3-2 this season.

UAB claimed all five courts in straight sets to open the day. The Blazers struck first on court two, followed by a point on court four. UAB clinched the dual with a win on court one before finishing off the sweep with victories on courts three and five.

The Miners responded with a strong showing against Stephen F. Austin. UTEP opened the scoring with a straight-set win on court four before SFA evened the match on court two. The Miners regained the lead with a victory on court one and clinched the dual with a straight-set win on court five. UTEP added one more point on court three to secure the 4-1 result.
