UTEP Men’s Golf Heads up to Eugene to Play at the 35th Duck Invitational March 24-25

EL PASO – UTEP men's golf will take the scenic course at the 35th annual Duck Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon at Eugene Country Club (par 71 | 6,997 yards) on Monday and Tuesday.
 
Monday's first 36 total holes (rounds 1 & 2) will tee off at 8:30 a.m. PDT/9:30 MDT shotgun start. Tuesday's times for the final round (18 holes) will be the same.

No. 150-ranked Max Schliesing (71.3 stroke average), Dylan Teeter (71.8), Alexandre Godin (74.1), Patrick Foley (74.8) and Massimo De Giorgi (76.3) are taking the course for the Miners.
 
UTEP will compete against host no. 36 Oregon, Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Cincinnati, no. 45 Colorado State, no. 46 Grand Canyon, Idaho, no. 40 Little Rock, Oregon State, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, Saint Mary's, Washington and Wyoming.   
 
Along with Schliesing, the field will see seven other student-athletes ranked in the top 150 – no. 41 Matthew Diehl, no. 64 Aiden Krafft (Oregon), no. 81 Greyson Leach (Oregon), no. 126 Ryan Ford (Cincinnati), no. 127 Eric Doyle (Oregon), no. 147 Archie Smith (Little Rock) and no. 148 Zubair Firdaus (San Jose State).

Max Schliesing carded his best finish as a Miner, and UTEP placed ninth overall at the 45th annual Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate at Tucson Country Club (par 72 | 7,533 yards) on March 17-18.
 
Schliesing (69-71-72) moved up a pair of spots to second place at 4-under par 212 and finished ahead of 10 players ranked in the top 150. Schliesing got off to a solid start, turning in a 69 and 71 on day one of the tournament. The senior was the top Miner for the third time this season and the 10th time in his career. Schliesing penciled in 14 birdies during the two-day, 36-hole tournament. Schliesing finished one stroke behind the leader. The previous best finish was third place at the Duck Invitational on March 28, 2023. 
 
UTEP (290-301-303—894) finished in the top 10 for the sixth time this season (ninth of 13 teams). The Miners were 10 strokes ahead of 10th-place Oregon State (295-308-301—904) and five behind Washington State (288-299-302—889). Host no. 25 Arizona (282-289-296) won the team title at 3-over par 867, while no. 29 Long Beach State (284-292-292—868), which battled the Wildcats till the last hole, finished a stroke behind in second. No. 10 Utah (286-290-294—870) was third. 
 
Dylan Teeter (71-78-75—224) moved up nine spots to finish tied for 28th. Teeter recorded seven birdies.
