UTEP Men’s Golf, Schliesing in Top 10 after 36 Holes at the Duck Invitational Monday

DAY 1 RESULTS 

EUGENE, Ore. – UTEP men's golf is in seventh place and no. 150-ranked Max Schliesing continued his solid play, sitting tied for seventh as the Miners wrapped up day one at the 35th annual Duck Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon at Eugene Country Club (par 71 | 6,997 yards) on Monday.
 
Schliesing (69-69) shot 4-under par 138 and recorded seven birdies. He's six strokes behind the leader and tied with three other players. The redshirt senior penciled in an eagle on hole 16 (par 5, 522 yards) in round two that helped him move up a spot to tie for seventh place. He teed off from hole 13, getting off to a slow start at 2-over with a pair of bogeys on holes 15 (par 4, 330) and 16 (par 4, 443). Schliesing rebounded with birdies at holes 2 (par 3, 228), 5 (par 3, 140), 6 (par 5, 554), and holed out with a birdie at 12 (par 3, 205). 
 
Dylan Teeter (72-71—143) is 26th and recorded seven birdies. The senior tallied four birdies but five bogeys in round one. Teeter bogeyed three consecutive holes but birdied at 12 to hole out in round one. Teeter opened the second round with a birdie at 13 and penciled birdies at holes 3 (par 4, 444) and 8 (par 4, 470). 
 
Massimo De Giorgi (74-71—145) shot up 18 spots to tie for 36th after shooting even par in round two. The freshman recorded two birdies and five bogeys in round one. De Giorgi opened round two with an eagle at 13 (par 5, 525) to go 2-under but followed with a double bogey to go back to even par. He totaled five birdies on the day. 
 
Alexandre Godin (72-76—148) and Patrick Foley (77-71—148) are tied for 58th. Godin recorded six birdies while Foley had five, including four in round two. 
 
UTEP (287-282—569) shot 3-over par in round one but carded a 2-under par 282 in round two to move up a spot to seventh. Host no. 36 Oregon (279-280—559) and Saint Mary's (280-279—559) are tied in first. Wyoming (280-282—562) is third and no. 45 (281-284—565) is fourth. The Miners are two strokes behind no. 40 Little Rock (278-289—567) and three behind San Jose State (285-281—566).
 
Wyoming's Jaren Calkins (66-66) shot 10-under par 132 as the individual leader. Colorado State's Christoph Bleier (64-71—135) and Wyoming's Kristof Panke (67-68—135) are tied for second. Schliesing is tied with San Jose State's Avinash Iyer (70-68—138), Little Rock's Archie Smith (70-68—138) and Oregon's no. 64 Aiden Krafft (67-71—138). 
 
Tuesday's final round (18 holes) is set for an 8:30 a.m. PDT/9:30 MDT shotgun start. Live results will be on Scoreboard
