EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP tennis team (7-7, 1-4 CUSA) will play three matches in as many days to wrap up the 2025 dual season before turning its attention to the Conference USA Championships. The Miners will compete at ULM (3-12) at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT Friday, challenge Grambling State (2-9) in a neutral-site match at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT Saturday and battle at league foe LA Tech (13-8, 3-0 CUSA) at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT Sunday.
"It is hard to believe that we are in our final matches of the spring," UTEP head coach
Ivan Fernandez said. "We have had a lot of ups and down, and we are hoping to finish strong this weekend. We have three good matches ahead of us, and we are up for the challenge
Paloma Hennicaux (17-7),
Carlotta Mencaglia (13-10) and
Hanna Telzynska (13-6) have all reached double figures in wins in singles to lead the charge for UTEP. Mencaglia (7-2, No. 1 singles) and Hennicaux (6-3, 3-3 No. 3, 3-0 No. 4 singles) have been particularly sharp during the dual campaign.
UTEP has deployed a multitude of units in doubles play, but it has remained competitive in the department. Six different pairings have picked up a victory along the way.
The Orange and Blue will be vying to build on the momentum of a 4-0 dispatching of Sam Houston on "Senior Day" on April 6. It marked the fifth consecutive triumph on "Senior Day" for UTEP.
