DALLAS – Hanna Telzynska has been voted to the five-member Conference USA Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, the league office announced Friday. It is the first such honor for the sophomore, who boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing a degree in biomedical science.
"It's a great honor for Hanna to be selected for the All-Academic team," UTEP head coach
Ivan Fernandez said. "Her hard work on and off the court is impressive, and we are super proud of her."
She has forged a dazzling mark of 13-6 on the season in singles, which ties for the second-most wins this year by a. Miner. That includes a record of 3-2 in dual play, which is aided by going 2-0 at No. 4 singles. In doubles she has joined forces with
Carlotta Mencaglia to produce a squad-best 13 triumphs. The duo is also holding down the No. 1 position in dual action.
Telzynska and the rest of the Miners will wrap up the regular season this weekend with three matches in as many days. The Miners compete at ULM (3-12) Friday, challenge Grambling State (2-9) in a neutral-site match at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT Saturday and battle at league foe LA Tech (13-8, 3-0 CUSA) at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT Sunday.
