UTEP Men’s Golf in Ninth after 36 Holes at Mississippi State’s Old Waverly Collegiate Championship Monday

WEST POINT, Miss. – UTEP moved up three spots to ninth place after two rounds of play on day one at Mississippi State's Old Waverly Collegiate Championship at Old Waverly Golf Club (par 72 | 7,088 yards) on Monday afternoon.

UTEP (302-283—585) got off to a slow start in the first round but rebounded to shoot 5-under par 283 to move up three spots to ninth, one stroke behind ULM (293-291—584). No. 3 Ole Miss (265-271—536) is in commanding lead on the team leaderboard after shooting the lowest team round in event history on the first 18 holes – 23-under par 265. Host no. 32 Mississippi State (280-281—561) is second and no. 15 Alabama (277-286—563) sits in third. Murray State (301-308—609) is last.

After shooting 1-over par 73 in the first round, no. 149 Max Schliesing (73-67—140) shot up 21 spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 11^th place after a 5-under par 67 in round two. Of Schliesing's 11 birdies, he penciled in eight of them in round two.

Dylan Teeter (73-70—143) climbed up 11 spots at tied for 21^st after his 2-under par 70 in round two. Teeter tallied five birdies in the second round and three in the first.

Patrick Foley (77-74—151) is tied 52^nd, Massimo De Giorgi (79-73—152) is tied 60^th and Alexandre Godin (80-73—153) is tied 64^th.

Ole Miss' no. 78 Tom Fischer (65-67—132) leads the pack. Fischer's first-round score is tied for the third-lowest individual round in OWCC history. His teammates, no. 66 Kye Meeks (67-66—133) and no. 8 Michael La Sasso (67-67—134) are second and tied for third, respectively. ULM's no. 95 Louis Anceaux (68-66—134) is tied for third.

Tuesday's final round (18 holes) will be at 8-10:20 a.m. CT/7-9:20 a.m. MDT at hole one and 8:20-9:50 a.m. on hole 10.
