UTEP Men’s Golf in Fourth after Round One at CUSA Championship in Texarkana Monday

ROUND 1 RESULTS | ROUND 2 PAIRINGS

TEXARKANA, Ark. – The UTEP men's golf team opened round-one action with a 2-over par 290 performance at the 2025 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship at Texarkana Country Club (par 72, 6969 yards) on Monday afternoon.

Overall, the Miners recorded 16 birdies (tied for fifth in the field) and 54 pars (third best). UTEP shot 2-over on par 3 holes (3.10 average), which was first overall.

Braden Smith is off to a solid start as the junior is tied for fourth overall with Middle Tennessee's Luke Perkins after firing a 3-under par 69 on the first 18 holes. Smith penciled in a team-high six birdies and ranks tied for second with two other players overall.

Alexandre Godin is tied for ninth at 1-under par 71. Godin tallied three birdies on the day.

Dylan Teeter (2-over par 74) is tied for 23^rd, no. 105 Max Schliesing (4-over par 76) is tied for 33^rd, and Patrick Foley (5-over par 77) is tied for 37^th overall.

On the team leaderboard, Liberty is first after a fast start at 11-under par 277. Middle Tennessee (3-under par 285) is eight strokes behind the Flames. LA Tech shot even par 288 and is two strokes ahead of the Miners.

NM State (3-over par 291), Sam Houston (3-over par 291), Kennesaw State (4-over par 292), WKU (11-over par 299) and Jax State (12-over par 300) round out the field.

Liberty leads the way at 5-under on par 5 holes and 8-under on par 5 holes. The Flames lead the way with 21 birdies and are tied for first with the Hilltoppers with 59 pars.

On the individual leaderboard, Liberty's Josh Ryan is first after shooting 5-under par 67, while LA Tech's Niilo Maki-Petaja and Liberty's Ike Joy are tied for second at 4-under par 68. Maki-Petaja leads the way with seven birdies, while Sam Houston's Josh German leads with 15 pars.

Tuesday's second round will tee off at 8 a.m. CT. Round three (Wednesday) and semifinals match play (Thursday) will also start at 8 a.m. CT. Coverage for semifinals match play will be on ESPN+.
