UTEP’s Schliesing, Teeter Conclude ’24-25 Campaign at NCAA Men’s Golf Reno Regionals Wednesday

RENO, Nev. – UTEP's Max Schliesing and Dylan Teeter finished out the 2025 season competing at the NCAA Men's Golf Reno Regionals at Montreux Golf and Country Club on Wednesday evening.
 
Multiple weather delays marked the three-day tournament. The players started the first round late on Monday afternoon and concluded the first 18 holes on Tuesday morning. Round two was then suspended by darkness late Tuesday evening and wrapped up on Wednesday morning. 
 
Schliesing (73-74-78—225), ranked no. 127, finished the first round tied for 19th after shooting 1-over par. He recorded a pair of birdies and bogeyed three times. Schliesing dropped a spot to tie for 20th, carding a 2-over par performance. He penciled two more birdies and tallied four bogeys. The redshirt senior finished tied 39thoverall at 9-over after struggling in the third round, recording a trio of double bogeys. Overall, Schliesing tallied six birdies. 
 
No. 214-ranked Teeter (77-73-76—226) concluded the first 18 holes tied 40th after shooting 5-over par. The senior improved in the second round, penciling in a 1-over par to remain tied for 20th. Teeter wrapped up his campaign tied for 47th at 10-over. Teeter recorded six birdies, 10 bogeys and three double bogeys, overall. 
 
Virginia's Paul Chang (68-68-70—206) won the individual title at 10-under par and finished three strokes ahead of BYU's no. 117 Cole Ponich (71-71-67—209), who moved up five spots. Texas's no. 53 Luke Potter (71-71-68—210) and Duke's no. 88 Bryan Kim (71-72-67—210) tied for third. 
 
No. 33 BYU (291-275-283—849) was first at 15-under par. No. 9 Virginia (286-288-279—853) was second at 11-under, no. 4 Texas (292-284-280—856) was third at 8-under, no. 4 San Diego (295-293-284—872) was fourth at 8-over, and Cal (208-281-284—873) was fifth at 9-over. 
 
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals (not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals (not on those teams) will compete at each of the three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals (not on those teams). The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.
 
All 30 teams and six individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of competition, the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match-play competition and the 72-hole stroke-play individual champion. The top eight teams after 72 holes of play will be placed into a bracket thereafter.
 
In team match-play competition, a total of five points will be available with one point being awarded for each individual match. Winning teams will advance to the semifinals and subsequently, the finals. The first team to win three points within the team match will advance, or in the case of the final match, be declared the national champion.
