EL PASO, Texas – UTEP Softball Head Coach T.J. Hubbard announced the addition of two talented student-athletes to the 2026 roster: catcher Camrynn Guthrie, a transfer from Florida Atlantic, and local product Aylani Ottley, a graduate transfer from Southern University.
Camrynn Guthrie – Sophomore – Catcher – Burnet, Texas
Guthrie joins UTEP after spending her freshman year at Florida Atlantic, where she appeared in four games and delivered a two-RBI single in her first collegiate at-bat against Missouri State. The Burnet High School alumna had a standout prep career, hitting .526 as a senior while driving in 26 runs and logging 16 extra-base hits over 97 at-bats.
A proven leader behind the plate, Guthrie helped guide Burnet HS to back-to-back 4A Area and Bi-District Championships and was named the 2023 District 24-4A Catcher of the Year. Her accolades also include Academic All-District honors and a 2022 Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Honorable Mention selection.
On the club circuit, she competed for Texas Glory under coach Kevin Shelton and hit .375 with 19 RBIs. Guthrie also played a pivotal role in her team's 18U Texas state championship and was selected to participate in the TGCA All-Star game.
Aylani Ottley – Graduate Student – Utility – El Paso, Texas
Returning to her hometown roots, Ottley brings maturity and versatility to the Miners as a utility player. A proud alumna of Austin High School in El Paso, Ottley was a multi-year captain and earned numerous accolades including 2021 EPISD Co-Offensive Player of the Year and 1st Team All-District honors.
She began her collegiate career at Southern University, where she played three seasons and made her mark both on and off the field. Ottley was named the 2024 Southern University Female Student-Athlete of the Year, served as team captain, and earned multiple selections to the SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Off the diamond, she earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Ottley played club softball for the El Paso Firecrackers, coached by Chris Estrada and Samuel Scott.
Guthrie and Ottley are set to join the Miners this fall and will begin preparations for the 2026 season.
