"We're excited for the opportunity to compete in our first Mountain West Cross Country Championships this weekend in Reno. This is an important moment for our program as we begin a new chapter in a very competitive conference, and we understand the level of competition we're stepping into," second-year UTEP head coach Francesca Green said. "Throughout the season, we've seen growth from both our men and women, with some strong individual performances and continued progress in how we compete together as a team. Everything we've done leading up to this point has been about preparing ourselves for championship competition, and now it's time to put that work together."

The women's squad will be represented by Aubrey Arsenault, Isabella Campa, Kissleine Casarez, Bobbi Guillen, Mia Hairston, Brenda Jerop, Vallary Kiplagat, Salma Licon, Ashlyn McMillan, and Sofia Ramirez.

The men's team, ranked 13th in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region, includes Carmelo Corral, Julian Franco, Ameen Ibrahim, Nathan Kapel, Juan Leal, Frankie Medina, Sebastian Mendez, Israel Quintana, Paul Rotich, and Jacob Yeager.

"Coach Herbert has done a tremendous job preparing both groups throughout the season. His commitment to developing our student-athletes, building their confidence, and getting them to compete together has been an important part of the progress we've made," Green said. "I'm excited for him and our athletes to have this opportunity to compete on the Mountain West stage. The Mountain West has a strong tradition in distance running, and we know we'll be challenged. But that's exactly the type of environment we want our student-athletes competing in. Our expectation is to race with confidence, be aggressive, and compete for one another from start to finish."
