UTEP Wins BGSU Women’s Intercollegiate; Fridlund First, Thawinwan Runner-Up

FINAL RESULTS
 
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. –  The UTEP women's golf team captured the team title at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate on Wednesday, finishing with a 54-hole total of 863 (+11). The victory marks the program's first tournament win since April 9, 2019, at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
 
UTEP maintained control after opening with rounds of 282 and 286 before closing with a 295 in the final round. The Miners' 863 is a season-best 54-hole total and ranks as the second-lowest team score in program history.
 
UTEP finished ahead of second-place UT Arlington (286, 289, 294—869, +17), while Augusta placed third (296, 290, 292—878).
 
Freshman Amelia Fridlund climbed three spots on the final day to claim medalist honors at 3-under par (70, 71, 69—210). The 210 marks a career-best 54-hole total and stands as the second-lowest individual 54-hole score in program history. The win is the first of her UTEP career.
 
Competing as an individual, Nichapas Thawinwan tied for second at 2-under par (72, 66, 73—211). Her second-round 66 was a career-best and the lowest individual round by a Miner this season, while her 211 marks her best 54-hole performance and highest career finish. She shared runner-up honors with UT Arlington's Kamri Gabel, who also finished at 2-under par (211).
 
Freshman Atikan Cherdchoo tied for sixth at 1-over par (68, 71, 75—214). Her opening-round 68 set a career-low, and her 214 marks her best 54-hole total to date.
 
Blanca Yrizar tied for 15th at 7-over par (72, 71, 77—220).
 
Taline Kyoumjian tied for 28th at 11-over par (72, 73, 79—224).
 
Luciana Origel tied for 37th at 14-over par (77, 76, 74—227).
 
Also competing individually, Paige Wood tied for 22nd at 9-over par (73, 73, 76—222). Her 73 marked a career-best round, while her 222 stands as her best 54-hole total and highest finish of the season.
 
THE NEXT 54
The Miners will continue their spring slate Mar. 2–3 at the West Texas Classic in Abilene, Texas, hosted by Abilene Christian.
