UTEP placed third in air rifle with a school-record 2386, marking the program's first-ever podium finish at the PRC Championship and capping a record-setting weekend.
UTEP finished fifth overall out of seven teams, tallying a 2316 in smallbore and combining for a 4702 aggregate. Nebraska swept the championship, capturing titles in smallbore, air rifle and overall aggregate. The Miners closed ahead of Air Force and Ohio State in the final standings.
Individually, Carlee Valenta secured a top-10 overall finish, placing 10th with an 1185 aggregate. She led the Miners in smallbore with a 587 and paced the squad in overall aggregate scoring. Kameron Wells delivered one of the championship's standout performances, advancing to the air rifle medal round after qualifying second with a 599-54x. Wells became the first Miner in program history to reach a PRC finals round and finished second on the team in aggregate (1180). Valenta narrowly missed the air rifle finals, placing ninth with a 598 in a tightly contested field.
MINERS ON THE PODIUM
Valenta has also shined on the international stage, making two podium appearances this season. She placed third in the open final at the USA Shooting Winter Air Gun Championships in Camp Perry, Ohio (December 2025), before earning another third-place finish at the Winter Grand Prix in Kisakallio Lohja Finland (January 2026).
