#10 UTEP Rifle Closes Out Home Slate with Third Straight Victory

EL PASO, Texas – In its final home match of the season, the No. 10 UTEP Rifle team delivered a commanding performance Sunday morning, defeating Schreiner University, 4711-4417, at the UTEP Rifle Range. The win marked UTEP's third straight home victory of the season.

UTEP posted a 2338 in smallbore and followed with a 2373 in air rifle to secure the 294-point victory. Schreiner recorded a 2175 in smallbore and a 2242 in air rifle.

Leading the way for the Miners was Carlee Valenta, who captured the all-around title with a match-high 1188 aggregate. Valenta fired an impressive 591 in smallbore and a 597 in air rifle to pace the field.

Kameron Wells placed second overall with a 1182 aggregate, while her sister Kennedy Wells rounded out the all-around top three with a career-best 1179. Kameron and Kennedy each posted identical 595-51x marks in air rifle.

Paige Hildebrandt added a 1164 aggregate, followed closely by Xan Keel with a 1162 and Julia Czernik with a 1159 to round out UTEP's scoring contributors.

UP NEXT
With the home schedule complete, UTEP now turns its attention to postseason competition. The Miners will travel to Fairbanks, Alaska, for an NCAA Qualifier match on Saturday, February 21, where they will face host Alaska Nanooks rifle.
