EL PASO, TEXAS – UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced on Thursday that the Miner Athletic Club has secured 70 Gold Standard Giving Society members, each donating $30,000 or more to UTEP Athletics over a three-year period.  The group has contributed $20 million cumulatively to UTEP Athletics since the GSGS's inception in January of 2025.

The Miners are striving to reach 100 GSGS members by September 1, 2028.

By getting to 70 members, UTEP Athletics has achieved the first of four "Reach the Peak" goals for year one in the Mountain West Conference.

"Being a Gold Standard Giving Society member not only requires tremendous generosity, but a long-term commitment as well," Senter said.  "This is a special group of people and we are truly grateful for their passionate support."

"The Reach the Peak campaign is all about strength in numbers," said Michael Levy, Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Revenue Officer.  "Achieving our year one goal of 70 Gold Standard members represents the belief and excitement our donors have for the Miners as proud new members of the Mountain West Conference."

To date, Gold Standard members have been instrumental in enhancing UTEP Athletics facilities, such as the Memorial Gym Renovation Project and upgrades to locker rooms for the football, soccer and softball programs.  Donations also fueled the Climb Higher initiative, raising $8 million for the department's Mountain West transition.  Sport excellence funds, used to recruit and retain student-athletes, have also been generously supported.

UTEP's other "Reach the Peak" goals for the first year in the MW are 1,750 Miner Athletic Club donors (currently at 1,615), 8,500 season ticket holders (currently at 7,412), and three single-game sellouts.
