EL PASO, Texas — UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced on Monday that the Miner Athletic Club now has 1,759 members. By surpassing the 1,750-member mark, UTEP Athletics has achieved two of its four "Reach the Peak" goals for year one in the Mountain West Conference.
On August 13, the Miners secured their 70th member of the Gold Standard Giving Society (the number is currently at 71). The Miners are striving to reach 100 Gold Standard Giving Society and 2,500 Miner Athletic Club members by September 1, 2028.
On Sunday night, the UTEP volleyball team played before a sellout crowd against NM State in the new-look Memorial Gym. UTEP Athletics is two sellouts away from achieving its year one "Reach the Peak" goal of three across all sports combined.
UTEP currently sits at 7,753 season tickets for all sports, 747 shy of the year one "Reach the Peak" goal of 8,500.
"Miner Nation has stepped up in a big way and helped us get the athletic year off to a rousing start," Senter said. "Our fundraising success, coupled with the early-season results of our soccer and volleyball programs, has made our first month in the Mountain West a memorable one."
"Reach The Peak is about strength in numbers, and these milestones are proof of what we can accomplish when Miner Nation comes together," UTEP Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Revenue Officer Michael Levy said. "Reaching our first two goals reflects the incredible belief our donors and fans have in the future of UTEP Athletics. We are grateful for their support, and the best is yet to come."
UTEP athletic teams are off to a 4-1-2 collective start during the 2026-27 campaign, highlighted by the 3-0-2 opening by the soccer program. The Miners are unbeaten through five matches for the first time in 10 years. Volleyball, the preseason Mountain West favorite, posted a thrilling 3-2 victory over I-10 rival NM State in its home opener on Sunday.
