8/5/2026 2:00:00 PM

EL PASO, Texas – UTEP Softball Head Coach TJ Hubbard announced the addition of Rone Robinson to the Miners' coaching staff as an assistant head coach.

Robinson brings nearly two decades of coaching, player development and recruiting experience at the collegiate, travel ball and private instruction levels. Throughout his career, he has established a reputation for developing offensive systems, mentoring student-athletes and building successful programs.

"We are excited to welcome Rone to our program as Assistant Head Coach," Hubbard said. "Hiring Rone feels like welcoming family home. Having worked alongside him in 2007-08 and again in 2012-13, I've seen firsthand the passion, knowledge and work ethic he brings every day, along with the positive impact he has on student-athletes and everyone around him. Since then, Rone has continued to grow into an exceptional coach, recruiter and mentor. His ability to develop student-athletes, build meaningful relationships and positively influence every aspect of a program makes him an outstanding addition to our staff. Rone understands the standard we're building at UTEP, and I have complete confidence that his experience, character and commitment to excellence will help elevate our program. I'm excited to have him back on our staff and look forward to what we'll accomplish together."

"It is an honor to become part of the UTEP Softball program, the UTEP family and the El Paso community," Robinson said. "UTEP is a thriving university that values academic and athletic excellence, and I am grateful to TJ and the UTEP administration for this opportunity. I've known TJ for more than 17 years, and his focus has always been on competing at the highest level while preparing student-athletes for success both on the field and in life. He's always been someone I've looked up to, and I'm excited to be a part of the continued success of UTEP Softball. Go Miners!"

Robinson joins the Miners after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Texas Women's University, where he served as the program's offensive and infield coordinator. In that role, he helped develop the team's offensive and defensive systems while overseeing practice planning, scouting, recruiting and game preparation. He also coordinated camps and clinics, managed statistical analysis and assisted with fundraising and facility development.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Robinson has owned and operated Total Efforts Sports Softball & Baseball Academy since 2014, providing instruction to athletes through private lessons, clinics and camps. As owner and lead instructor, he has designed comprehensive player development programs emphasizing offensive and defensive fundamentals while helping athletes maximize their potential.

From 2020-23, Robinson served as Regional Director of Operations for the Bombers Fastpitch Softball Organization, overseeing organizational growth throughout North Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. He provided leadership and development opportunities for both coaches and student-athletes while directing regional recruiting efforts.

Robinson previously spent two seasons (2012-14) as associate head coach at North Texas, serving as the team's offensive coordinator while assisting with recruiting, player development, travel operations, academics and fundraising.

Prior to North Texas, Robinson was an assistant coach at UT Arlington during the 2011-12 season. He coordinated the offense and recruiting efforts while working extensively with the infielders and assisting with academic support and video analysis.

He began his collegiate coaching career at UT Dallas, serving as assistant softball coach and head women's cross country coach from 2009-11. His responsibilities included recruiting, academic oversight, budgeting, travel coordination and fundraising.

Robinson earned his bachelor's degree in general studies from the University of Louisiana.

He and the Miners will begin preparations for the 2027 season this fall.
