UTEP Set to Compete at the 2022 C-USA Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 19-20

EL PASO – The UTEP track and field team will compete at the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the Birmingham Crossplex hosted by UAB on Feb. 19-20. 
 
Saturday's events will commence at 9 a.m. CT/8 MT with the heptathlon, while the pentathlon will begin at 9:15 a.m. CT. The field events will start at 1 p.m. CT with the men's pole vault, while the running events will shoot off at 3 p.m. with the women's mile trial. 
 
The championships will resume on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CT with the completion of the heptathlon. The field events will follow at 10 a.m. CT (men's shot put, men's triple jump, women's high jump), and will continue at 1 p.m. CT (women's shot put, women's triple jump). The running events will start with the women's mile at noon CT and men's mile at 12:10 p.m. The women's 4x400-meter relay will begin at 2:50 p.m. CT, while the men will race the 4x4 at 3:15 p.m. CT. The awards presentation will be at 3:40 p.m. CT.

The UTEP men last won an indoor conference title in 2014, while most recently the women's squad took home the trophy in 2019. The Miners didn't compete during the 2021 indoor season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Charlotte men's team and Southern Miss women's squad claimed the team titles. North Texas was the runner up on the men's side, while the Charlotte women placed second.
