UTEP Softball Takes on Arizona Tuesday Afternoon

EL PASO, Texas – After originally being scheduled for March 8 in Tucson, Arizona the Miners (12-26, 2-13 Conference USA) will finally meet up with Arizona (23-15, 4-11 Pac-12) in a doubleheader Tuesday (April 19) at 2/4 p.m. MT at Hillenbrand Stadium.
 
In the Circle
Aalijah Alarcon (7-13) leads the squad with 99.2 innings in 26 appearances and 19 starts, throwing seven-complete-game victories and earning three saves.
  • 5.20 ERA | 62 K | 34 BB | 142 H | 74 of 88 runs allowed are earned
 
Notables
  • Lexi Morales paces the squad with a .314 batting average on 33 hits. She's slugged .457 with a .433 on-base percentage and 21 walks. 
  • UTEP has shredded 20 home runs on the season with Anna Sample and Pate Cathey leading with four each. 
  • Cathey sets the pace with 22 RBI. 
  • Cathey leads with 53 total bases. 
  • The Miners are 23-for-27 in stolen bases. Savannah Favre is 9-for-10.
 
National Rankings
  • UTEP ranks 21st in double plays per game (0.45, 3rd C-USA)
  • Aalijah Alarcon ranks 15th with three saves (2nd C-USA)
 
Arizona
  • Arizona sits at 23-15 (4-11 Pac-12) on the season. The Wildcats are led by Jasmine Perezchica with a .421 batting average on 51 hits. She is slugging .446 with a .449 on-base percentage.
 
  • Arizona has used all four pitchers through its 38 games, with Devyn Netz pitching a team-high 80.2 innings with 23 appearances and 15 starts. Netz has a 3.82 ERA with 54 strikeouts and 25 walks, 81 hits and 52 runs allowed (44 earned) and is 9-5. As a staff, Arizona carries a 4.11 ERA, allowing 247 hits, 165 runs (135 earned), striking out 154 and walking 74. Arizona has given up 51 home runs, 45 doubles and five triples.
 
  • The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Miners, 13-1. UTEP's lone win (9-6) occurred in 2008 as they went 1-1 in a doubleheader against Arizona.
