UTEP GAME NOTES

EL PASO, Texas –
A large crowd is expected on Saturday afternoon as UTEP women's basketball welcomes in North Texas for a 1 p.m. tipoff.

The Miners (13-5, 6-3 C-USA) sit a half game out of second in the conference standings and will be hosting the Mean Green (7-13, 4-6 C-USA) in the "915 Game" for the program.

This is the second time in the past three seasons that UTEP has started 6-3 in league action, eventually jumping out to an 11-3 start during the 2020-21 season.

GAME COVERAGE
Fans can watch the game against North Texas on CUSA.tv with Mando Medina calling all the action courtside. Live stats will be available on the UTEP SIDEARM Stats Portal.

SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
The Mean Green are led by one of the most talented players in the conference in Quincy Noble, who is tied for second in the league in scoring, averaging 17.0 per game with 3.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per contest. Noble is a two-time All-Conference selection who is a familiar face for the Miners in her third season of game action for the program. Last time out, North Texas topped UTSA 54-51 in San Antonio to pick up its first road C-USA win of the season. Noble had 16 points in that one to lead the way. In addition to Noble, Jaaucklyn Moore and Kendall McGruder have each averaged 8.8 points per game to help on the scoring end. Tommisha Lampkin leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 per game, while McGruder has a team-high 60 assists. Lampkin and Aniyah Johnson are quality shot blockers on the inside, with each swatting 24 so far on the year. The Mean Green have not been statistically strong this season on the boards, ranking last in the conference with 33.8 per game and a -4.8 margin.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. NORTH TEXAS
UTEP is 11-8 in the all-time series against the Mean Green after the two sides split a pair of contests last season. The Miners defended their home court with a 75-62 handling of North Texas a year ago, while the favor was returned in Denton, with the Mean Green winning 56-47. UTEP is 7-2 overall in El Paso.

JACKSON SET TO TAKE ON FORMER TEAM
North Texas transfer guard Jazion Jackson enters her first meeting of the season against her former team fresh off a monster effort last week. During the course of the three games, the product of Dallas set or equaled numerous career bests. In a 68-60 home defeat of Charlotte, Jackson tied a career high with nine rebounds. She then helped fill in admirably for N'Yah Boyd at the point guard position starting in a tight loss to FIU on Thursday that saw her score a career-high 22 points with five assists, four rebounds and a steal. Eight of those points came in the fourth quarter as UTEP nearly erased a 17-point deficit. She then one-upped herself on Saturday, once again setting a career mark with 26 points on an 11-of-21 effort from the floor with four steals and three boards in a thrilling 79-78 overtime win at Florida Atlantic.

APPLYING THE PRESSURE
UTEP forced 23 turnovers in each game of the Florida trip, making it nine times this season that the Miners have forced an opponent into 20 or more. UTEP is 8-1 in such games.

LOVING THE HOME-COURT ADVANTAGE
UTEP has been dominant at home this season, posting a 7-1 record. With one more win in the friendly confines, the Miners will secure a winning record at home for the 17th time in the past 19 seasons.

I'LL HAVE A DOUBLE-DOUBLE
In her fourth year as a starter, Avery Crouse put together her first career double-double in the win at Florida Atlantic, scoring 10 points with 10 rebounds. In the win, Crouse nearly reached a triple-double, adding a career-high eight assists and also equaling a career best with four steals. The 10 rebounds marked the most in a game in her career with the Miners. In the win, Crouse teamed with Jazion Jackson to help fill in at the point.

ADHEL ON THE ASSISTS
Adhel Tac distributed a career-high five assists at Florida Atlantic last Saturday to go with 10 points and seven rebounds in a big all-around performance.

CROUSE SET TO START 100TH GAME
Avery Crouse has started 99 games in her career as a Miner, ranking eighth in program history. Kelli Willingham has the all-time record with 117 starts from 2010-14. Only seven players have started over 100 games during their time with UTEP women's basketball.

PENCIL IN THESE TWO
Jazion Jackson and Avery Crouse are the lone two Miners who have started all 18 games this season.

TAC ON THE GLASS
The 6.3 rebounds per game for Adhel Tac ranks seventh in C-USA.

SABINE HITTING TRIPLES
Sabine Lipe has made at least one triple in seven of the last eight games off the bench.

WILSON ENTERS STARTING LINEUP
Erin Wilson earned a spot in the starting five in the win at Florida Atlantic, playing a season-high 33 minutes and scoring a season-best 15 points with five rebounds and a steal. It was the first start of the season for Wilson and the first time in the past 10 games that the Miners have fielded a different group to begin a contest.

TWO-WAY STAR
Jazion Jackson is fourth in C-USA this season with 39 steals, averaging 2.2 per game. She is part of a UTEP backcourt that has regularly created difficulties for opposing guards this season.

CRASHING THE BOARDS IN C-USA
Jazion Jackson has been active on the glass during the seven conference games to this point, averaging 6.6 per contest to rank fifth in the league in C-USA tilts.

BIG MINUTES
Jazion Jackson and N'Yah Boyd are fourth and sixth in C-USA in minutes per game, with Jackson playing 34.6 and Boyd 33.8.

TAC COMING ON STRONG
Adhel Tac has had her best college season to date this year, posting seven double-figure scoring games, three contests with 10 or more rebounds and two double-doubles. Tac has taken full advantage of her opportunities, increasing her averages from 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in seven minutes per game last season to 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game this time around. Tac was a three-star prospect coming out of high school where she originally went to TCU.

CROUSE CAREER NUMBERS
Four-year starter Avery Crouse has scored 815 points with 376 rebounds, 184 assists and 107 steals in 100 games with 99 starts as a Miner.

KEEPING OPPONENTS OFF THE BOARDS
UTEP has allowed opponents to only grab 31.6 rebounds per game since the beginning of C-USA play, the lowest mark in the conference over that stretch by 2.2 per game. Rice is second at 33.8 per game.

ARIKE CAREER UPDATE
In her third season in El Paso, Elina Arike has scored 471 points and grabbed 299 rebounds in 65 games with 61 starts.

STILL LIMITING TURNOVERS
With just 13.9 turnovers per game this season, the Miners are keeping possession of the basketball at one of the best clips in program history. The only UTEP team to average less turnovers per contest was the 2008-09 team at an average of 13.0 per game.

FREE THROW UPDATE
UTEP averages 15.1 free throws made per game, ranking 24th nationally and third in C-USA. The Miners are averaging 21.7 attempts per game, ranking 24th nationally and third in the conference.

AVERY FROM DISTANCE
In her collegiate career, Avery Crouse has made 82 triples, ranking her 15th in UTEP program history. This season, she has connected on 21 from downtown as she looks to eclipse her season best of 23 set in 2019-20 and 2021-22.

WHAT'S NEXT
UTEP continues a big three-game homestand next Thursday when No. 23 Middle Tennessee comes to town for Noche Latina. The Blue Raiders are the first ranked team to play in the Don since No. 20 Arizona topped the Miners 54-43 on Dec. 7, 2019.
