UTEP’s Greg Holmes Places Top 10 at Everett Buick GMC Classic

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The UTEP men's golf team (290-287-290—867) placed 11^th while Greg Holmes finished tied for ninth at the Everett Buick GMC Classic hosted by Little Rock at Chenal Country Club – Founders Course (par 72, 7115 yards) on Tuesday afternoon.

Holmes opened the tournament with a 68 and followed with scores of 70 and 73 in the final 36 holes to pencil in a 5-under par 211. Holmes was the top Miner for a third time this season, while it was his second career top-10 finish. Holmes shot 8-under on par 5 holes. He also led the squad with 14 birdies.

Jacob Presutti fired a season-low 69 in the third round of play, shooting up nine spots and tying for 13^th. Presutti shot par (72-72) during the first 36 holes and finished 3-under par 213. Presutti recorded 38 pars – only second to Troy's Brantley Scott (41).

Rounding out the order of finish for the Miners were Dylan Teeter (75-72-74—221, t-49), Braden Smith (75-73-74—222, t-55) and Patrick Foley (79-79-78—236, t-82). Smith tallied the Miners' lone eagle on hole 12 (par 5, 513 yards) during the second round of play.

Overall, UTEP finished with 165 pars, the second most on the course behind Troy (168).

LSU (277-292-273—842, -22) won the team championship while Troy (288-286-277—851, -13) and host Little Rock (283-287-282—852, -12) rounded out the top three finishers. UT Arlington (305-287-298—890) was last.

Central Arkansas' Mark Stockdale (71-66-67) won the individual title at 12-under par 204. Michigan's Hunter Thomson (72-66-69—207) and LSU's Connor Gaunt (69-74-66—209) rounded out the top three.

The Miners will conclude the fall slate at The Clerico hosted by Oral Roberts on Oct. 23-24 in Broken Arrow, Okla., at Cedar Ridge Country Club.
