UTEP Men’s Golf in Sixth, Keller Tied for Seventh after 36 Holes at the Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational Monday

ERIE, Colo. – UTEP men's golf shot 8-under par 280 in the second round, moving two spots up to sixth overall after two rounds of action at the 15^th Annual Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational at Colorado National Golf Club (par 72 | 7,787 yards) on Monday.

The Miners (283-280) are sixth overall of 19 schools competing. UTEP shot 13-under par 563 and is one stroke behind fifth-place Loyola Marymount (281-281—562). Long Beach State (276-268) is in first at 32-under par 544. Arkansas State (275-270—545) and host Colorado (268-280—548) round out the top three on the team leaderboard. Southern Illinois (269-285—554) is in fourth.

UTEP leads the field with 129 pars. The Miners have registered 27 birdies and three eagles. UTEP ranks fourth on par 3 holes, averaging 3.08 (+3), and is tied for third on par 5s at 4.65 average (-14).

Marc Keller sits tied for seventh overall after producing a breakout performance. The junior transfer penciled in a 2-under par 70 on the first 18 holes and followed with a phenomenal career-best round of 6-under par 66. Keller shot up 16 spots in the leaderboard following his second-round effort. His 6-under par was tied for the third-best score in round two. Keller tallied two birdies (holes 12, 17) and parred the other 16 holes. He upped his game when he eagled holes 7 (par 5, 576 yards) and 12 (par 5, 564). Keller added three more birdies in round two.

Alexandre Godin (70-72—142) and Braden Smith (71-71) are tied for 39^th. Godin has birdied six holes and eagled one. Smith recorded seven birdies.

Pat Foley (72-72—144) and Dylan Teeter (73-71—144) are tied for 53^rd. Foley had four birdies, and Teeter tallied five.

Arkansas State's Thomas Schmidt (64-63) is in first at 17-under par 127. Long Beach State's Steen Zeman (67-65—132) and Northern Colorado's Cooper Tate (66-67—133) round out the top three.

LES FOWLER INDIVIDUAL INVITATIONAL UPDATE
Colin Price (69-73) shot 2-under par 142 and is tied for seventh overall out of 38 competitors. Ryan Lewis (70-76—146) is tied for 15^th, Valentin Luna (74-74—148) is tied for 21^st, and Kevin Watts (70-80—150) and Massimo De Giorgi (73-77—150) are tied for 24^th.
