UTEP Men’s Golf Concludes Fall Play at the Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational Sept. 29-30

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION 

EL PASO – UTEP men's golf will take the links for the final time in the fall as the Miners will compete at the 15th Annual Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational in Erie, Colo., at Colorado National Golf Club (par 72 | 7,787 yards) starting Monday through Tuesday.
 
All 10 Miners will see action to wrap up fall play with five student-athletes competing as individuals at the Les Fowler Individual Invitational at Broadlands Golf Course (par 72 | 7,289 yards) in Broomfield, Colo.

Monday (36 holes): rounds 1 & 2, 8:15 a.m. MDT shotgun start
Tuesday (18 holes): round 3, 8:30 a.m. MDT staggered shotgun start

Teeing off at the Mark Simpson-CU Invite are Dylan Teeter (68.6 stroke average), Patrick Foley (70.4), Braden Smith (71.3), Marc Keller (73.4) and Alexandre Godin (72.2).
 
Nineteen total schools are at the Mark Simpson as the Miners will compete against host Colorado, Arkansas State, Boise State, Creighton, CSU-Fullerton, Denver, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Long Beach State, Loyola-Marymount, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, Southern Illinois, Tarleton State, Texas State, UC Irvine, Utah State and Wyoming
 
Playing at the Les Fowler are Colin Price (75.3), Valentin Luna (73.7), Massimo De Giorgio (77.0), Kevin Watts and Ryan Lewis. Watts and Lewis are making their season debuts. 
 
A total of 34 individuals are playing at the Les Fowler representing Arkansas State (1), Colorado State (2), Creighton (3), Colorado Mines (3), Denver (1), Gonzaga (1), Long Beach State (2), Loyola-Marymount (1), Northern Colorado (5), Oklahoma (4), Sacramento State (1), Southern Illinois (2), Tarleton State (2), Texas State (1) and Texas Tech (TBD).

UTEP started the final day tied for eighth but moved up three spots to finish in fifth place after the Miners shot 12-under par 852 (287-283-282) at the William H. Tucker Invitational at UNM Championship Course (par 72 | 7,555 yards) on Sept. 19-20. 
 
The Miners shot 6-under par 282 in the third round and at one point were in second place. Long Beach State won the tournament at 23-under par 841 (284-280-277), moving up three spots to claim the team title. Host New Mexico (276-282-288—846) finished in second, while Colorado (289-271-287—847) and USC (279-282-286—847) finished tied for third.
 
Dylan Teeter shot up 25 spots to tie for 11th after shooting 4-under par 68 in the third round. Overall, Teeter shot 5-under par 211 (71-72-68). Teeter tied 17 birdies and penciled in an eagle (par 4) on hole 12 in the third round.  
 
New Mexico's Emil Albers, who competed as an individual, won the individual title at 13-under 203 (67-68-68).
