PREVIOUSLY ON…
UTEP opened the 2023-24 campaign with a comfortable 75-58 victory over DII program Western New Mexico. Mahri Petree led the Miners with 16 points, followed by Erin Wilson (14), Luisa Vydrova (13) and Adhel Tac (10). Veonce Powell also tacked on eight points in the win. Tac led the team in rebounding and was three boards away from a double-double with seven. Wilson and Delma Zita were close behind with six apiece, and Vydrova contributed five to the total tally.

DELMA'S DEBUT
Junior transfer Delma Zita showed out in her first game with the Miners. She stuffed the stat sheet with five points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals, and one block.

THE RETURN OF PETREE
Mahri Petree made a triumphant return to the court following an injury that kept her sidelined for most of last season. She looked to be picking up where she left off, scoring a team-high 16 points. Petree was the spark the Miners needed to start the second half, scoring 12 of her points in the third quarter. She also added two assists, one rebound and one block.

A-TAC-ING THE BOARDS
Adhel Tac paced the Miners with seven rebounds against Western New Mexico, including pulling down six defensive boards. She looks to improve upon last year's 6.1 rebounds per game.

ERIN'S ERUPTION
Erin Wilson put in a complete shift for the Miners. She ranked second on the team in points scored (14) and field goal percentage (71.4 percent) and tied for second in total rebounds. Her six offensive rebounds rank 19th nationally and third in CUSA. On the defensive end, she snagged a career-high three steals against the Mustangs.

OFF TO THE RACES
Freshman forward Luisa Vydrova did not disappoint in her first career start. Her 13 points put her third in the Miner scoring list. She also posted five rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

THE COUNTDOWN IS ON
Keitha Adams is just eight games away from 500 career victories as a head coach. 285 of those wins have come at the helm the UTEP women's basketball program.

HOME SWEET HOME
After the win on Nov. 6, Keitha Adams is 13-4 all-time in home openers at the Don Haskins Center.

SCOUTING KANSAS CITY
The Roos started their 2023-24 season with a 73-66 win over Bradley on Nov. 6. Guard Alayna Contreras paced Kansas City with 19 points, including three made buckets from beyond the arc. Dominique Phillips (16) and Lisa Thomas (12) also scored in double figures for the Roos. Contreras also led the team with five assists in the game. Ifunanya Nwachukwu locked down the glass with a team-high 12 rebounds, including nine defensive boards. Tamia Ugass ranked second on the team with eight rebounds. Kansas City brought back three players from the 2022-23 team that went 9-23 overall (3-15 in conference) in Ugass, Zaire Harrell, and Jocelyn Ewell.
