The UTEP women's basketball program (4-5) plays host to the Portland Pilots (5-4) Saturday in the Don Haskins Center. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. MT. The Miners are looking to bounce back after a pair of losses last week.

PREVIOUSLY ON…
The Miners fell to 4-5 this season after a tough 90-66 loss to UTSA at the Convocation Center in San Antonio on Dec. 3. Three Miners scored in double digits, led by Aaliyah Stanton with 17. Erin Wilson tacked on 14 and Jane Asinde added 10. Asinde snagged a team-high four steals, followed by Stanton with three.
 
STOUT STANTON
Aaliyah Stanton is acclimating just fine to the college-ball climate. She led the team with a career-high 17 points at UTSA. Stanton went 3-5 from downtown to go with three assists and three steals.
 
FEELIN' FINE AT THE FOUL LINE
Erin Wilson had a perfect night at the charity stripe at UTSA, going eight-for-eight. As a team, the Miners shot 81.3 percent (13-16) from the line.
 
IN THE RANKS
Two Miners are putting up stats that place them in the top 100 in the national rankings. Jane Asinde leads the league and is 16th nationally in double-doubles (4) and also ranks first in CUSA and 25th in the country in defensive rebounds per game (7.0). Erin Wilson leads the conference and is 25th nationally in free throw attempts (53) while also leading the league and sitting 36th in the NCAA in made free throws (38).
 
NOT TODAY!
Serbian freshman Dunja Zecevic leads the Miners in blocks, averaging 1.0 per game, six on the year.
 
SCOUTING PORTLAND
The Pilots are 5-4 on the year, averaging 71.3 points and 36.0 rebounds per game. Portland is currently ranked in the top 100 nationally in nine categories, including first in the West Coast Conference and fifth in the nation in blocks per game (7.0). The team leads the league and sits 12th in the country in steals per game (12.7), and is first in the WCC and 17th in NCAA in turnovers forced per game (22.6).  The Pilots also rank second in conference and 27th in the country in assists per game (18.0), and lead the league while sitting 60th nationally in bench points per game (26.3). Pacing the way for Portland are Maisie Burnham and Emme Shearer, who are both averaging 11.6 points per game. Dyani Ananiev is accounting for 10.7 points per game while Lucy Cochrane is putting up 10.0. McKelle Meek leads the team in assists per game (4.1), followed by Kianna Hamilton (2.6). Cochrane paces the team in rebounds per game (7.6), while Kennedy Dickie is close behind with 6.1. Cochtane also tops the team in blocks per game (4.3). She leads both the WCC and the nation in blocks per game and total blocks (39). Cochrane also sits fourth in conference and 97th nationally in rebounds (68). Shearer leads the WCC and is 57th in the nation in  steals per game (2.6). Ananieve leads the league and is 18th in the country in three point percentatge (50.0) while ranking fifth in conference and 98th nationally in total three pointers (19). Meek sits second in WCC and 54th nationally in assist/turnover ratio ( 2.47) and also ranks sixth in the league and 92nd nationall in total assists (37).
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH THE PILOTS
UTEP is 0-1 all-time against Portland. The only time the two sides have met previously was in the 1993-94 season, which saw the Pilots win 77-65 on 1/6/94.
