EL PASO – The UTEP Softball team (11-22, 2-10 Conference USA) hits the road this weekend as they face off against Florida Atlantic (26-13, 8-4 C-USA) for a three-game series, April 14-16, at FAU Softball Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla.

Leading Off for the Miners

UTEP leads Conference USA in doubles per game (1.55).

UTEP batted .284 through 33 games (which included a Top 5 opponent) paced by five players - three who have 90-plus plate appearances - who were batting at or above the mark (Morales, Favre, Mendez, Dooner, Brockway). Leading the way is junior Lexi Morales who is hitting .380 on 38 hits with 11 doubles and 16 RBI. She's slugged .520 with a .500 on-base percentage.

Morales is one of eight (8) Miners to have double digit RBIs already in the season, with Savannah Favre and Caitlyn Brockway leading the way with 26 each.

Against NMSU, Ajia Richard went 2-for-2 in the batter's box with two home runs for three (3) RBI while Caitlyn Brockway drove in three runs of her own on a 2-RBI double a solo home run.

Ten (10) players have posted at least one home run for the Miners with Richard accounting for seven (7).

Four (4) arms combined in the circle against NMSU. Kaylee Hewitt earned her second win of the season as she closed out the last three inning facing a team high of 13 batters.

UTEP has had 23 of 25 players see action during a game at some point this season.

Gabby Sacco was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Sacco now has a C-USA leading 1.32 ERA and is the conference leader in wins with 15. Her two complete games last weekend against FIU put her at 10 on the season with five shutouts

As a team, FAU has a 2.07 ERA, which ranks the Owls 24 in the nation
