UTEP Soccer Adds 10 Newcomers for 2023 Season

 EL PASO, Texas – UTEP soccer signed 10 student-athletes to play for the Miners this fall, head coach Gibbs Keeton announced Tuesday.

The list includes six freshmen and four transfer students.
 
The new additions for the program include Angelina Amparano (Pima CC), Anissa Chairez (Blinn College), Jayde Gone (Americas HS), Hayden McMillan (Texas Southern), Nicole Morales (Bel Air HS), Ashlyn Neireiter (West Brook HS),
Olivia Roskos (Rio Rancho HS), Ally Stickney (Tyler JC), Tionna Taylor (Jackson State), Sophia Tice (Casteel HS), and Maya Vitoria (St. Marcellinus Secondary School).
 
"Joining our team for fall '23 are 10 players that will help push our team forward and will immediately compete for playing time," Keeton said. "We are bringing in a great group of players from transfers, locals, and international players to represent UTEP."

PRIOR TO UTEP: Joins the Miners after three seasons at Pima Community College … started all 14 games she appeared in during her final year with the Aztecs … allowed only six goals while making 78 saves (.929 save percentage) … helped lead the team to 11 wins … played nearly 1,200 minutes (84:32 minutes per game) … tied a career-high with 16 saves at Phoenix College (10/29/22) … also posted a big game in net with 11 saves in the home match against the Bears (9/17/22) … tallied seven shut outs … in her second season at PCC, Amparano started all 22 appearances and played close to 2,000 minutes in goal … allowed 18 goals and made 130 saves (.878 SV%) … recorded a season high 12 saves twice in the season, first at Glendale CC (8/31/21) and again against Scottsdale CC (10/9/21) … racked up seven or more saves in 11 contests … Had 10 shutouts … in her first year as an Aztec, started eight of nine appearances in a Covid-shortened season … made 53 saves (.746 SV%) … set a career high with 16 saves at Phoenix College (5/15/21) … posted seven or more saves on four occasions.

PRIOR TO UTEP: Returns to El Paso after two years at Blinn College … started all 13 appearances in second year with the Buccaneers … provided three assists … had nine shots (two on goal) … in first season at Blinn started nine of 11 appearances … tallied two assists … put up five shots … was a standout for San Elizario High School, helping lead the team to the sweet 16 for the first time in program history … earned First Team All-Region and First Team All-District honors.

PRIOR TO UTEP: Joining the Miners from Bel Air High School … tallied 123 goals over two seasons … scored 54 goals in 19 games as a senior … tacked on 17 assists … ranked 13th in the nation for goals scored (54) and 16th for total points (125) … broke the Highlanders record for goals scored in a season with 68 as a junior … added 28 assists … ranked first nationally for goals scored (69) and total points (166) and ranked 23rd nationally for assists (28) … led the team to a bi-district championship … named District 2-5A Offensive MVP … leading scorer in the city … El Paso Times All-City First Team honoree.

PRIOR TO UTEP: Coming to UTEP from West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas … 2x captain … as a senior, helped lead the Bruins to the Region 3 Semifinals … scored 24 goals and added six assists … earned MVP and First Team All-District for 2022-23 … 2x All-State honorable mention … won the 6A District title as a junior … led the team to an undefeated season … posted 22 goals and seven assists … named MVP and was a First-Team All-Region honoree … received a player of the week award … as a sophomore was named First Team All-District … 2x Academic All-District … 4x Academic All-State team… played club soccer for Houston Dynamo-Dash Youth team … as captain, led the team a State Cup Championship title in 2022.

PRIOR TO UTEP: Spent two seasons at Tyler Junior College … in her second year with the Apaches, Stickney started 17 of 19 games … part of a defense that tallied 15 shutouts … chipped in one goal in a 5-0 thrashing of Northeast Texas CC (10/8/22) … helped lead Tyler to an 18-0 record on their way to an NJCAA DI #1 overall ranking and a trip to the National semifinals … was part of a defense that allowed only seven goals on a team that had a +68 goal differential … started 15 of 20 appearances as a freshman … scored one goal (at Northeast Texas CC, 9/8/21) and added four assists … helped TJC to a 24-1 overall record and a trip to the NJCAA DI Championship game.

PRIOR TO UTEP: Comes to UTEP after two years at Jackson State … as a junior, Taylor was named 2022 SWAC Goalkeeper of the Year … helped the Tigers to a SWAC Title and an NCAA Tournament appearance … led the league in shutouts (seven), save percentage (.952), and goals against average (.115) … allowed just one goal in nine conference matches ranked 41st in the nation in shutouts … started all nine conference matchups as a sophomore … made 95 saves … played at least 85 minutes in all but one league match … began collegiate career at New Mexico … competed for Basha High School in Chandler, Ariz. … received Region II Second Team, All-Conference First Team, Player of the game (2x), and Player of the Week honors … helped BHS to League and District titles.
