DALLAS – Junior Ashlyn Neireiter has earned placement on the 2025 Conference USA Women's Soccer All-Academic Team, the league office revealed Wednesday. It is the first such honor for Neireiter, in addition to marking the fourth consecutive year that the Miners had at least one individual to be recognized for their outstanding achievement on the pitch and in the classroom. She boasts a 3.64 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in construction engineering.
 
The co-captain and a leader of the defense started every match of the year, helping the Orange and Blue accumulate five shutouts. The preseason All-CUSA honoree demonstrated incredible endurance, playing all but eight minutes on the season (1522 of 1560 possible minutes). In addition to aiding the Miners in producing the five clean sheets, the Orange and Blue topped the opposition in both total shots (218-188) and shots on goal (93-83). The physical defender who excelled both on the ground and the air was also smart with her play, being called for only four fouls all year long.
 
She got involved offensively as well, hammering home the match winner with a powerful header in a 1-0 victory against Tarleton State (8/28). She was named the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 2, becoming the first UTEP player to win the award in two years. Another notable moment for Neireiter included keying the charge for the defense in UTEP's 1-0 triumph at Boise State (9/7), which is the first program to stake back-to-back outright Mountain West Conference regular-season championships in a decade (San Diego State, 2014-15).
