PREVIOUSLY ON...
UTEP snapped a three-game losing streak with a down-to-the-wire 61-57 victory over LA Tech Thursday evening. Highlights of the contest include a bold full-court pass from Mahri Petree to Erin Wilson to put the Miners up three, and a tough steal from Delma Zita in the dying seconds to seal the win. Petree posted a team-high 15 points, Aaliyah Stanton had 13, and Wilson had 10.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLE THE TROUBLE
Jane Asinde and Erin Wilson have tallied seven double doubles apiece this season. They are one of four pairs of teammates in the country that have recorded at least seven double doubles each. The other three duos are LSU's Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow, Stanford's Cameron Brink and Kiki Iriafen, and Texas A&M's Janiah Barker and Lauren Ware.

Mahri Petree put in a full shift for the Miners against LA Tech, posting a team-high 15 points to go with four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. She also had a Sportscenter top-10 worthy full-court pass to Erin Wilson to put the Miners up three late in the fourth quarter.
 
SOW PROVIDES A SPARK
Mariama Sow gave the Miners a boost off the bench against the Lady Techsters. She contributed a career-best six points, four rebounds, and one block in 18 minutes of play. Sow also went 4-4 from the charity stripe.
 
SWAT TEAM
UTEP recorded six blocks against LA Tech, the most in a single game this year. Jane Asinde and Mahri Petree had two apiece while Mariama Sow and Luisa Vydrova each swatted one.
 
ERIN "WINDEX" WILSON
Erin Wilson sits second in CUSA and 23rd in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (3.9).
 
CLEANIN' UP THE GLASS AT THE OTHER END
Jane Asinde leads Conference USA and ranks 30th in the NCAA in defensive rebounds per game (6.9).
 
GETTING TO THE LINE
The Miners are averaging 20.61 free throw attempts per game, good enough for third in the league and 35th in the nation.
 
PERIMETER DEFENSE
UTEP held its opponent to 30 percent or less from three for the third straight game and sixth time this season against LA Tech (28.6). The best defensive effort came against Lamar, where the Cardinals shot just 18.8 percent (3-16) from beyond the arc.
 
ATTACKING THE BOARDS
The Miners outrebounded LA tech 39-26 in the game, and 19-7 in the second half. It marked the ninth game this season that UTEP has outrebounded its opponent.
 
IN THE RANKS
Two Miners are putting up stats that place them in the top 100 in the national rankings in multiple categories. Jane Asinde and Erin Wilson are tied for second in CUSA, 43rd in the nation in double-doubles (seven). Asinde leads the league and sits 21st in the NCAA in free throw attempts (114) and ranks first in conference, 30th in the country in defensive rebounds per game (6.9). Wilson ranks second in the league, 23rd nationally in offensive rebounds per game and is third in CUSA, 58th in the nation in rebounds per game (9.0), to name a few.
 
THE COUNTDOWN IS ON
Keitha Adams is just two games away from 500 career victories as a head coach. 290 of those wins have come at the helm of the UTEP women's basketball program.
 
SCOUTING SAM HOUSTON
The Bearkats are 5-12, 0-5 in conference this season, averaging 68.4 points and 40.5 rebounds per game. They are shooting 34.9 percent from the floor, 26.4 percent from distance, and 67.9 percent from the foul line. Sam Houston is putting up 11.1 assists, 9.4 steals, and 3.1 blocks per game. The team is leads CUSA and is ranked second in the nation in three categories: free throw attempts per game (26.41), free throws made per game (17.94), and offensive rebounds per game (18.0). The Bearkats also lead the league and sit 10th in the country in turnovers forced per game, and second in conference, 55th in the country in rebounds per game (40.53), among others. Four players are averaging in double figures. Diana Rosenthal leads the way with 12.0 points per game, followed by Raanee Smith (11.0), Sydnee Kemp (10.9), and Kaylee Jefferson (10.1). Smith paces the team on the glass, averaging 9.3 boards per game, while also leading the Kats with 1.9 blocks. Kassiy Dixon has a team-high 1.6 steals, and Kemp tops the team in assists with 1.9 per game. Smith leads the league and ranks third in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (5.2), and is second in conference, 45th in the country in rebounds per game (9.3). She also sits third in CUSA, 36th nationally in blocks per game (1.9), third in the league, 49th in the nation in blocks (32), and third in conference, 70th in the NCAA in rebounds (158).
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH THE BEARKATS
The Miners are 2-0 all-time against the Bearkats. The last matchup came during the 2012-2013 season and saw UTEP win 85-66 on 12/28/12 during Coach Adams' first tenure with the program.
