UTEP Men’s Golf Opens Spring Slate at Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate in Mexico

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP men's golf team will tee off the spring season at the Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate hosted by UTRGV at Playa Paraiso Golf Club (par 72 | 6,701 yards) in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, on Monday thru Wednesday (Feb. 5-7).

Taking the course for the Miners are Sebastian Sandin (76.5), Greg Holmes (72.1 average), Patrick Foley (75.1), Dylan Teeter (72.9) and Jacob Presutti (72.5).

Sandin will tee off Monday's round one on hole no. 1 at 9:03 a.m. ET/7:03 MT, while Holmes (9:12 a.m.), Foley (9:21 a.m.), Teeter (9:30 a.m.) and Presutti (9:39 a.m.) will follow. Round two is Tuesday while the tournament wraps up on Wednesday with an 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start. Braden Smith (73.2) will play as an individual, starting at 8:54 a.m. ET/6:54 MT.

The Miners will compete against host UTRGV, Abilene Christian, Lamar, Wichita State, UAB, Northern Colorado, VCU, and UTA. The Miners will tee off with VCU and ACU on Monday morning.

FALL REVIEW
UTEP finished up fall action with a third-place showing (out of 12 programs) at The Clerico in Broken Arrow, Okla., on Oct. 23-24. The Miners (286-283-289) shot 18-over par 858 at the Cedar Ridge Country Club (par 70 | 7,088 yards). UTEP tied third (out of 17 teams) at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Oct. 2-3. The Miners (281-284-289) shot 10-under par 854 at Colorado National Golf Club (par 72 | 7,567 yards).

Holmes led the way with a 72.1 stroke average, placing as the top Miner in three tournaments and finishing in the top 10 on two occasions. He placed tied sixth at the Mark Simpson, firing 5-under par 211 (67-75-69), and tied for ninth at the Little Rock Invitational at 5-under 211 (68-70-73).

Teeter was the top Miner at two events, the first at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at 1-over par 217 (74-72-71), and at The Clerico at 4-over par 214 (70-75-69).
