UTEP Men’s Golf in 3rd after 2 Rounds at the Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate Tuesday

DAY 2 RESULTS

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – 
The UTEP men's golf team shot even-par 288, maintaining a third-place showing after playing 36 holes at the Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate hosted by UTRGV at Playa Paraiso Golf Club (par 72 | 6,701 yards) in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
The Miners (311-288—599) were one of two programs to shoot even or better in round two, as leader VCU (300-287—587) shot 1-under. UTEP (+23) is 12 strokes behind leader VCU (+11) and three behind second-place Lamar (302-294—596, +20). Wichita State (313-295—608) is fourth, while host UTRGV (313-296—609) and UTA (315-294—609) are tied fifth.
 
UTEP's 32 birdies and second most behind Lamar (36). The Miners have also registered 94 pars. Wichita State leads the way with 103 total pars. 
 
Dylan Teeter (72-71—143), who led after 18 holes, dropped two spots despite shooting 1-under in round two. He's tied third with Lamar's Nathan Woodham (73-70—143). VCU's Tim Chan (141) and Grayson Wood (142) each penciled in a 67, taking the top two spots on the leaderboard. 
 
Teeter opened the round with a three on hole no. 1 (par 4) and birdied three of the last six holes to remain standing high on the leaderboard. Teeter is tied for the lead with two other competitors, shooting 1-under par on par 3 holes. He's also shooting even par on par 4 holes. 
 
Patrick Foley (74-74—149) dropped three spots and is tied for eighth after shooting 3-over par. Foley registered four birdies. Foley is tied second with two other players, shooting 4-under on par 5 holes. 
 
Braden Smith (80-70—150), competing as an individual, rocketed up 20 spots to tied 11th after shooting 2-under par. It was a big improvement from Monday's 80. Smith recorded seven birdies, while penciling three on the final four holes. 
 
Sebastian Sandin (82-71—153) shot up 15 spots to tied 23rd after shooting a 1-under. Sandin birdied five holes, including three of the last eight holes. 
 
Jacob Presutti (83-71—154) was the fourth Miner to shot under par, climbing up 12 spots to tied 29th. Presutti penciled in four birdies, including holes 16 (par 4) and 18 (par 5). 
 
Teeter, Smith and Foley each have penciled in nine birdies in the first two rounds. Woodham leads the field with 12.
