UTEP Men’s Golf Places Tied Second, Teeter Finishes Second to Conclude the Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate

FINAL RESULTS

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – 
The UTEP men's golf team penciled in its best finish in five seasons, placing tied for second and Dylan Teeter, after firing the second best score of the day, finished second on the final day at the Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate hosted by UTRGV at Playa Paraiso Golf Club (par 72 | 6,701 yards) in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
The Miners (311-288-289—888) shot 1-over par on the final 18 holes, the second best score of the day. Tournament champion VCU (300-287-282—896) shot 6-under on Wednesday to maintain its lead and grab the championship trophy. Lamar (302-294-292—888) finished tied with UTEP after shooting 4-over par. 
 
It was the highest finish for UTEP since placing second at the Bearkat Invitational in April 2019. 
 
Teeter (72-71-69—212) fired a 3-under par 69 in the final round to move up a spot and claim a second-place showing. Teeter tallied four birdies on holes 5 (par 5), 7 (par 5), 14 (par 5) and 18 (par 5). Teeter shot 4-under par, two strokes behind individual champion VCU's Grayson Wood (75-67-68—210). Teeter recorded 13 birdies and 33 pars during the three-day event. 
 
Teeter's finish was the highest by a Miner since Marcus Khaw tied for second at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in March 2022. 
 
Patrick Foley (74-75-75—224) dropped four spots to tied 12th. Foley recorded 10 birdies and 29 pars. 
 
Jacob Presutti (83-71-73—227) shot up eight spots to tied 21st. Presutti registered eight birdies and 31 pars.
 
Sebastian Sandin (82-71-80—233) placed tied 34th. Sandin registered tallied eight birdies and 29 pars. 
 
Greg Holmes (86-79-72—237) shot par on the day, moving up five spots to tied 42nd
 
Braden Smith (80-70-71—221), who competed as an individual, moved up two spots to finish tied for ninth. Smith also tallied 13 birdies to lead the Miners. 
 
UP NEXT
The Miners will return to paradise to compete at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 15-17 in Kauai, Hawai'i, at Ocean Course at Hokuala.
