UTEP Men’s Golf in Fourth, Teeter Fifth after Round 1 at CUSA Championship Monday

TEXARKANA, Ark. – The UTEP men's golf team shot a 3-over par 291 after the first round of action at the 2024 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship at Texarkana Country Club (par 72 | 6,969 yards) in Texarkana, Ark., on Monday.

The Miners found themselves in first place through three holes at 3-under par, but leader LA Tech took control and finished the day at 8-under par 280. Second-place Middle Tennessee (287) is seven strokes behind, while Liberty (290) rounds out the top three. UTEP (291) is in fourth and rival NM State (294) is tied for fifth place with Sam Houston (294). WKU (295) and Jax State (299) rounded out the leaderboard after day one.

Dylan Teeter got off to a solid start, firing 2-under par 70 and finishing the first 18 holes in fifth place. Teeter birdied three of the first five holes on no. 2 (par 5), no. 4 (par 4) and no. 5 (par 4). He totaled four birdies, also penciling a three on no. 18 (par 4).

Teeter is one stroke behind LA Tech's Niilo Maki-Petaja (69) and MT's Luke Perkins (69). LA Tech's Lake Juban and WKU's Luke Fuller sit atop the leaderboard after shooting 4-under par 68. Fuller birdied his last three holes to shoot up the leaderboard.

Greg Holmes is t-13^th after shooting 1-over par 73, while Patrick Foley (73) is also tied for 13^th. Jacob Presutti (75) and Sebastian Sandin (75) are tied for 28^th.

Sam Houston leads the field with 60 pars, and LA Tech is pacing the course with 20 birdies.

Tuesday's second round will start with LA Tech and Sam Houston teeing off at 8 a.m. CT/7 MT, while the Miners will start at 8:45 a.m. CT/7:45 MT with Liberty.

Sandin will lead it off for the Miners at 8:45 a.m. CT/7:45 MT, while Presutti (8:54 a.m. CT/7:54 MT), Foley (9:03 a.m. CT/8:03 MT), Holmes (9:12 a.m. CT/8:12 MT) and Teeter (9:21 a.m. CT/8:21 MT) round out the starters.
