UTEP Athletics Announces Rebranding and Modernization of Miner Athletic Club

5/21/2025 8:54:00 AM

EL PASO, Texas – The Miner Athletic Club, the long-time fundraising arm of UTEP Athletics, is getting a refresh to better align with the evolving landscape of college athletics and provide optimal service to donors, student-athletes, coaches, and sports programs.

Moving forward, all gifts to UTEP Athletics will be factored into donors' annual membership level. Previously, the MAC only recognized donor contributions to the student-athlete scholarship fund through philanthropic and seat-related donations.

In preparation for the revenue-sharing era of college athletics, the MAC is introducing a new giving designation – Talent Acquisition Fund (TAF). The TAF directly enhances UTEP's ability to attract and retain exceptional student-athletes by allowing supporters to make philanthropic, sport-specific contributions. With the Goldmine Collective transitioning to a business-centric approach, the TAF is now the primary way donors can meaningfully impact Miner Athletics' recruiting efforts.

"We are excited to modernize the Miner Athletic Club and credit our donors not only for their ticket donations, but contributions to sport-specific funds, NIL, endowments, and capital projects," UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter said. "These will all factor into their priority points total and help provide access to exclusive benefits and experiences."

"UTEP Athletics would like to thank the Goldmine Collective for their incredible efforts and support of our student-athletes' NIL opportunities to date," UTEP Deputy Athletics Director for Revenue Generation Michael Levy said. "The Talent Acquisition Fund is a critical priority for our department and will help determine the level at which we are able to share revenue with our student-athletes, pending approval of the House settlement. We encourage all Goldmine Collective and Miner Athletic Club members to support the TAF."

The Miner Athletic Club has also introduced the "Gold Standard Giving Society," composed of generous and committed donors who provide critical financial support for UTEP student-athletes and coaches. Commitments of $30,000 or more over a three-year period will afford membership and access to premium opportunities, including postseason tickets, pre-game sideline access, and away game travel.

An updated priority point system is also being rolled out to reflect new giving priorities and opportunities. The new system will reward philanthropic giving, recognize university contributions, and provide incentives for varsity letter winners and consecutive years of MAC membership. For a complete breakdown, please visit www.utepminers.com/MACrebrand
