UTEP Men’s Golf to Compete at 49th John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai’i Feb. 12-14

EL PASO – UTEP men's golf, ranked no. 83 in the latest Scoreboard National Rankings, will take the links on the island as the Miners play at the 49^th John A. Burns Intercollegiate hosted by Hawai'i in Lihue, Kaua'i, on the Ocean Course at Hokuala (par 70 | 7,098 yards). The three-day, 54-hole event tees off on Thursday through Saturday.

Teeing off for the Miners are Dylan Teeter (69.5 stroke average), Branden Smith (71.4), Valentine Luna (73.1), Marc Keller (72.3), and Patrick Foley (71.1).

Nineteen schools are playing at the John A. Burns as the #83-ranked Miners will compete against host Hawai'i, #30 BYU, #78 Cal, Fresno State, #95 Grand Canyon, #42 Long Beach State, #71 Loyola Marymount, Miami-Ohio, #19 New Mexico, #62 Saint Mary's (CA), #22 San Diego State, San Francisco, #85 Santa Clara, #32 Texas A&M, #38 UNLV, #23 Utah, and #72 Washington State.

UTEP men's golf shot 7-under par 281 in round three to finish in seventh place of 13 teams at the 23^rdNational Invitational Tournament hosted by Arizona at the Omni Tucson National Resort (Catalina Course | par 73, 7,262 yards) on Jan. 26-27.

UTEP (287-286-281) shot 10-under par 854, finishing five strokes ahead of rival NM State (290-283-286—859). No. 5 Texas edged out host no. 30 Arizona for the team title. The Longhorns (275-270-278) shot 41-under par 823, while the Wildcats (267-288-269) were at 40-under par 824.

Braden Smith (70-74-70) was the top Miner and tied 18^th overall at 5-under par 214. Smith led UTEP with 15 birdies and tied for sixth overall with three other competitors. Smith penciled in seven birdies in the final round.

Dylan Teeter (73-72-70) tied for 25^th at 4-under par 215. Dylan recorded 11 birdies and eagled hole 2 (par 5, 535 yards) in round one.
